Session 1

The characters were traveling together when they arrived at a town called Oakhurst. They discovered that there were some people missing to the southwest, down the "old road", so they headed off to investigate. Upon arriving there, they found a deep ravine. Lowering themselves down on ropes, they discovered, in the gloomy depths of the canyon, what appeared to be the very top of a castle of some sort, buried in the earth. Having fought some rats, they entered a tower room, found a secret door, and defeated some skeletons, finding a few bits of gold and silver for their efforts.

Session 2

The group was joined by two more people, who had heard in town that a party of adventurers had headed down the old road: a half-orc barbarian named Mauss Trong, and a human cleric named Valandil. With these new arrivals, the group proceeded further into the underground ruins, first encountering and killing a dire rat. They found a whimpering Kobold near a destroyed cage. It turns out that there is a group of Kobolds here, and Meepo guided them to their leader. After some discussion, they are on a task to find the small, white dragon for the Kobolds, which was allegedly taken by a group of neighboring goblin enemies.

They found a magical fountain that emitted a potion of fire breath, and a trapped door that nearly decapitated the cleric, who was uncharacteristically foolish enough to just try the handle. They were attacked by a horde of rats, and defeated them all, and then had a good night's rest.

Session 3

Another fine session! The party, six strong, managed to get past the trapped door. Valandil did a "turn undead" at the door, which caused it to open wide. Stepping inside, we found a bunch of sarcophagi and an alter, with some items on it. We unwisely touch something on the altar, and the sarcophagi opened and we were attacked by skeletons. Valandil the cleric managed to turn them all, so they cowered in fear and didn't attack us. We went around and chopped them up. We found some nice gems, and a magical-seeming whistle, and a potion of some sort. No idea what these things do.

Then we went north, to the end of the hallway where the rats had emerged. Found a trapped fountain, which released a cloud of deadly gas when we read the inscription aloud. There were some sprung put traps here also. We opened a door to the west, and a whole bunch of rats came out, including an enormous queen dire rat! Fu Bar cast a color spray on the rats, catching Myrval in its effects. We pushed some of the unconscious rats into one of the pits, and killed the rest. The barbarian managed to get a critical hit with his greatsword, while enraged, on an almost-dead rat. The blow dealt 33 damage, and converted the rat into a fine red mist. Several characters were sorely wounded, but the cleric was able to heal them up decently enough. They are taking a rest right now. Next time, we must find the goblins!

Session 4

As we proceed further into the citadel, we encountered two rooms with low walls, behind which were lots of goblins, throwing stuff at us (kind of reminded me of high school for some reason). We killed them off, without suffering much injury. The highlight was Chaaarlie and his vials of acid. He successfully lobbed the acid over the wall fully 3 times, splashing the smelly stuff all over the evil creatures.

We are learning to play this game better now, though sometimes we're awfully slow about figuring out what we need to do. Our DM is too nice, providing occasional gentle hints that what we are considering may not be the best course of action ("Hang on, think about this for a moment! You've just alerted the goblins that you're here, and now you want to go back and sit around a while? How many more goblins do you think live here, if they have fully six guards?!?").

Highlight: Monks dropping acid (onto goblins). Lowlight: Sampling "elf pudding", before knowing what it really is.

Session 5

We found some more rooms, and killed some more goblins. We discovered a gnomish cleric, who had been imprisoned in a cage for a year. He was very grateful when we released him, and has joined us temporarily, for a share in the spoils, and a chance to get back at his former goblin captors, I believe.

We found a room with the escaped tiny white dragon, and managed to hit it with a couple of spells (and a crossbow bolt), enough to capture it. We tied it up very tightly, and put it in a sack, then delivered it to the kobold leaders in exchange for the golden key. Next time: what does this key unlock?

Session 6

We opened a dragonish door, with the golden key. There were some traps, and a very annoying noisy glass sphere that made us run away in terror, it was so loud. Throwing stuff at it from a distance finally shattered it, ending the pain. We encountered a dragon statue, which asked a riddle. Chaarlie figured out the answer immediately, and a secret door opened for us. We opened a crypt containing a trollish elf priest, which we killed. Found some treasure, etc. Next stop, attack some goblins to the north!

In addition to the player characters, the gnome cleric (Erkie Timbers) with us now has 65 GP and a scroll of cause light wounds.

Session 7

We followed the goblins up into their area, and killed a whole ton of them, including a Goblin king. What fun! There was an enormous room, full of non-fighting goblins, who we let flee out of their lair. No idea where they'll wind up, hopefully the Kobolds nearby will kill them off for us. We fought a funny tree, too, and found a deep shaft, with vines we can climb on to descend. That's for next time!

Also, Erkie Timbers now has 245 GP, and a scroll of cause light wounds.

Session 8

We did a little more exploration, then climbed down the 80-foot shaft into the cavern below. Immediately, we encountered some trees and a couple of skeletons, who attacked. Then a huge bugbear rushed in, with four dire rats, and we had a grand old battle. Upon defeating the monsters, taking significant damage, we clambered back up the vines to cast healing spells and rest up for tomorrow's adventure.

Session 11

Down in the depths, we found an evil tree! It was guarded by a druid, and two altered people: Sharwyn and the paladin. They had barkish skin. Oh, there was a giant frog, and some twigs there, too. The battle was rough, as we were already kind of beat up from fighting bugbears. We did prevail, and killed the evil tree and it's guardians. Now we need to go and get rid of those Kobolds.
